Ave Maria University on the brink of bankruptcy

| | Comments (1)
The yeast in the pizza dough is dead. Ave Maria.jpgThe faculty of Ave Maria University (Naples, FL) found out that the financial situation is rather dire and the school could close within 18 months. The once interesting idea is about to go belly up. AND "I am sorry isn't going to cut it." One wonders if this seemingly weird idea was based on good, holy discernment focused on Christ, or not. Could the money and intellectual capacities of so many of the good faculty members could have been used more effectively in established universities??? Tom Monaghan wanted to die poor and he's pretty close to it now. The business acumen of the Domino's Pizza founder seems to have run out. Ave Maria Law School is selling naming rights for its buildings.

It is a very terrible news. What will happen to those students of Ave Maria University? Their education will be compromised. When the Chrysler bankruptcy has been subject of debate and rumor for months, but it isn't speculative anymore. The Chrysler bailout, several billion dollars worth, wasn't enough debt relief, so they have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy large enough to stop it. The government, now a primary stakeholder, has urged a prearranged bankruptcy, so that the filing is short lived and the company reemerges as a leaner, meaner animal ready to compete in the market. The Chrysler bankruptcy, while unpleasant, might provide them with the debt consolidation they need. It must also happen to schools and universities who are also experiencing financial crisis as these automakers do. If the government can bailout huge companies, why not do it the same to institutions that will mold our futures generation.
