Italian Caritas meeting Nov 24 .jpg

“In our prayer also, we must learn increasingly to enter into this history of salvation whose summit is Jesus; [we must learn] to renew before God our personal decision to open ourselves to His Will, and to ask Him for the strength to conform our will to His — in every aspect of our lives — in obedience to His plan of love for us” (Benedict XVI, November 30, 2011)

The general intention

That all peoples may grow in harmony and peace through mutual understanding and respect.

The missionary intention

That children and young people may be messengers of the Gospel and that they may be respected and preserved from all violence and exploitation.

Pope Benedict XVI’s monthly prayer intentions for September 2011

Pope blesses crowd August 31 2011.jpgThe papal prayer intentions for September bring to mind the ministry of teaching and proclaiming the Gospel in Asia. Let’s join Pope Benedict and the Church in asking God to bestow His grace on these two intentions.

The general intention

That all teachers may know how
to communicate the love of truth and instill authentic moral and spiritual
values.

The missionary intention

That the Christian communities in Asia may
proclaim the Gospel with fervor, witnessing to its beauty with the joy of
faith.

Pope Benedict XVI’s monthly prayer intentions for August 2011

Pope at Castelgandolfo July 24 2011.jpgOne of the Holy Father’s August prayer intentions
is to step up an intense spiritual closeness with the Holy Spirit’s outpouring of
grace for the World Youth Day due to begin in 3 weeks (August 16-21).
Apparently many records are being broken for participation and programming.
Unite yourself to the Pope’s prayer for the youth….

The general intercession

That
World Youth Day in Madrid may encourage young people throughout the world to
have their lives rooted and built up in Christ.

The missionary intention

That Western Christians may be open to the action of the Holy Spirit and rediscover
the freshness and enthusiasm of their faith.

Pope Benedict XVI’s monthly prayer intentions for July 2011

Benedict on Corpus Christi 2011.jpg

The month of July has us praying the following intentions with Pope Benedict:
The general intention
That Christians may ease the physical and spiritual suffering of those who are sick with AIDS, especially in the poorest countries.
The missionary intention
That religious women in missionary territories may be witnesses of the joy in the Gospel and living signs of the love of Christ.

Pope Benedict’s prayer intentions for June 2011

The general intention

That priests, united to the Heart of Christ, may always be true witnesses to the caring and merciful love of God.

The missionary intention

That the Holy Spirit may bring forth from our communities many missionaries who are ready to be fully consecrated to spreading the Kingdom of God.

When the bishop of a diocese celebrates the Chrism Mass during Holy Week each year he does two things: he blesses and consecrates the holy oils used for the sacraments and he leads the assembled priests in the “Renewal of Commitment to Priestly Service.” The laity are asked by the bishop to pray for their priests asking “the Lord to bless them with the fullness of his love, to help them be faithful ministers of Christ the High Priest, so that they will be able to lead” the faithful to their eternal destiny: life with the Most Blessed Trinity.

Pope Benedict XVI’s monthly prayer intentions for April 2011

Pope and a kid Mar 30 2011.jpg

Prayer is
consenting to unite our desire to God’s passion for our salvation. And, that’s what we’ll do…

The general
intention

That through its compelling preaching of the Gospel, the Church may
give young people new reasons for life and hope.

The missionary intention

That
by proclamation of the Gospel and the witness of their lives, missionaries may
bring Christ to those who do not yet know him.

Pope Benedict XVI’s monthly prayer intentions for March 2011

pope praying at Mass.jpgThe Pope reminds us to broaden our awareness of other Christians in the world. Here we remember those Christians in Latin America and persecuted Christians. The second intention is most poignant given recent acts of violence on the many of the Eastern Churches.

The general intention

That the nations of Latin America may walk in fidelity
to the Gospel and progress in justice and peace.

The missionary intention

That the Holy Spirit may give
light and strength to those in many regions of the world who are persecuted and
discriminated against because of the gospel.
