The Oratorian Fathers in the District offered and preached the Mass. May God give Michael eternal light, happiness and peace!<\/p>\n<p>It is said the Novak was one of the finest Catholic theologians of the USA, indeed for the Church. A man of great intellect AND charity. This fact comes out in a beautiful homily preached by Father Derek Cross, Orat., giving us a wonderful picture of how grace moved man.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecatholicthing.org\/2017\/02\/25\/homily-funeral-mass-of-michael-novak\/\"><strong> I urge your reading the homily<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In part,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">More and more, as he grew older, Michael gravitated to the theme of\u00a0<em>caritas.\u00a0<\/em>In the Free Society Seminar at Bratislava, he developed a contemporary version of St Augustine\u2019s\u00a0<em>City of God<\/em>\u00a0called\u00a0<em>Caritapolis<\/em>. Later, he included a chapter on\u00a0<em>Caritapolis\u00a0<\/em>in\u00a0<em>The Universal Hunger for Liberty.\u00a0<\/em>He introduced the song \u201cUbi Caritas et Amor\u201d to the daily Masses of the Free Society Seminar. It was his only musical request for today\u2019s Mass, but he asked that it be sung twice. \u201cLittle children, love one another,\u201d was said to be the aged Apostle John\u2019s single and constant homily: a simple and profound wisdom that Michael made his own.
