\"All<\/a>We of the Benedictine family traditionally celebrate the feast of All Saints of the Benedictine Order —\u00a0In Festo Omnium Sanctorum Ordinis S.P.N. Benedicti<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The Cistercians –who likewise follow the Rule of St. Benedict, observe this day for All Saints of their Order.<\/p>\n

The Introit of the feast reads:<\/p>\n

“Let us all rejoice in the Lord,\u00a0celebrating a festival in honour of all the saints\u00a0who did battle under the Rule of Saint Benedict,\u00a0at whose solemnity the Angels rejoice\u00a0and all together praise the Son of God.”<\/p>\n

Through intercession of all the Benedictine saints, let us pray for that our brothers and sisters throughout the world (the\u00a0nuns, monks, and oblates) living under the Rule of Saint Benedict,
\nmay persevere in daily seeking the face of God; thus giving the Holy Trinity\u00a0praise day and night.<\/p>\n

“Avete Solitudinis Claustrique Mites”<\/h3>\n

Hail dwellers in the solitude
\nAnd in the lowly cloister cell,
\nWho steadfast and unshaken stood
\nAgainst the raging hordes of hell.<\/p>\n

All wealth of gold and precious stone
\nAnd glories all of rank and birth
\nYou cast away and trampled on,
\nWith all low pleasures of this earth.<\/p>\n

The green fields and the orchards grew
\nThe simple fare whereon ye fed.
\nThe brook was drink enough for you,
\nAnd on the hard ground was your bed.<\/p>\n

Around you dwelt the venomed snakes,
\nAnd fiercest monsters harboured near.
\nAll foul forms that the demon takes
\nYou saw, but would not yield to fear.<\/p>\n

Far, far beyond all earthly things
\nYour burning thoughts would wing their flight,
\nAnd hear the holy whisperings
\nOf angels in the heavenly height.<\/p>\n

Thou Father of the heavenly host,
\nThou glorious Son of Mary maid,
\nThou Paraclete, the Holy Ghost,
\nTo Thee be praise and glory paid.<\/p>\n
