Yet, he is a theologian and Doctor of the Church of some consequence. A Franciscan, priest and cardinal of the Roman Church, Bonaventure requires our attention. Below is a paragraph from the Divine Office today.<\/p>\n<p>The saint taught:<\/p>\n<p>If you ask how such things can occur, <strong>seek the answer in God\u2019s grace<\/strong>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> in doctrine; in the longing of the will, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> in the understanding; in the sighs of prayer, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> in research; seek the bridegroom <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> the teacher; God and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> man; darkness not daylight; and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">look not to the light<\/span> <em>but<\/em> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rather to the raging fire that carries the soul to God with intense fervour and glowing love.<\/span> The fire is God, and the furnace is in Jerusalem, fired by Christ in the ardour of his loving passion.
