\"Ambrose<\/a>Saint Ambrose is venerated in the Churches of the East and the West. He is a pivotal figure in Church history of sincerity but also because of his clear defense and teaching of the faith, his good administration of the Church and his witness so that others could become saints.<\/p>\n

What comes to mind is my own desire to pray for the great Church in Milan, and this feast helps me to remember the missionary work of so many from Milan to other parts of the world. All us are on mission.<\/p>\n

One of Ambrose\u2019s gifts was \u201crepacking\u201d\u00a0church teaching into verse, giving it a melody, and encouraging the people to sing their faith. Singing reinforces what you read and learn. A good example follows (though without music):<\/p>\n

Redeemer of the nations, come;
\nreveal yourself in virgin birth,
\nthe birth which ages all adore,
\na wondrous birth, befitting God.<\/p>\n

From human will you do not spring,
\nbut from the Spirit of our God;
\nO Word of God, come; take our flesh
\nand grow as child in Mary\u2019s womb.<\/p>\n

You came forth from the eternal God,
\nand you returned to that same source.
\nYou suffered death and harrowed hell,
\nand reigned once more from God\u2019s high throne.<\/p>\n

With God the Father you are one,
\nand one with us in human flesh.
\nOh, fill our weak and dying frame
\nwith godly strength which never fails.<\/p>\n

You cradle shines with glory\u2019s light;
\nits splendor pierces all our gloom.
\nOur faith reflects those radiant beams;
\nno night shall overcome it now.<\/p>\n

All praise, O unbegotten God,
\nall praise to you, eternal Word,
\nall praise life-giving Spirit, praise,
