The feast of Saint Th\u00e9r\u00e8se of Lisieux (the Little Flower) and the Slavic Byzantine Church honors Mary under the title the \u201cProtection of the Theotokos.\u201d AND we need her protection!!!<\/p>\n<p>This medieval prose (i.e.,\u00a0 a devotional poem for use in the liturgy) uses the sentiment of the \u201cAve Maria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hail Mary, full of grace,<br \/>\nthe Lord is with you, serene Virgin.<br \/>\nFor lowly and great,<br \/>\nlion and lamb,<br \/>\nour savior Christ:<br \/>\nyou have been his temple,<br \/>\nwhile still a virgin.<\/p>\n<p>For the flower and rose,<br \/>\nthe bread and the shepherd:<br \/>\nyou queen of virgins,<br \/>\na rose without a thorn,<br \/>\nyou became their mother.<\/p>\n<p>You are the royal seat of justice,<br \/>\nyou are the mother of mercy,<br \/>\nfrom out of the depths of dregs and misery<br \/>\nhast seen Theophilus to grace.<\/p>\n<p>The heavenly court praises you,<br \/>\nyou the king\u2019s mother and daughter;<br \/>\nO sweetest Mary,<br \/>\nthrough you the accused is forgiven.<\/p>\n<p>O most pious Mary,<br \/>\nthrough you the accused is forgiven.<br \/>\nO most gentle Mary,<br \/>\nthrough you favor comes to the just.<br \/>\nFor us always entreat Christ.
