Those who hold the rank of Ordinary members of the Synod Bishops are able to make a public contribution at the Synod. On Saturday, October 13, 2012, the President of the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation, Father Juli\u00e1n Carr\u00f3n, made his presentation to the assembled Synod members, and the Pope. Pay close attention to exactly what\u00a0Father Carr\u00f3n said,<\/i><\/p>\n

We can no longer “think of the faith as a self-evident\u00a0presupposition for life in society”. In fact, “not only can this\u00a0presupposition no longer be taken for granted, but it is often openly\u00a0denied” (Porta Fidei<\/i>, 2).<\/p>\n

While reading the\u00a0Instrumentum laboris<\/i>\u00a0(142), I\u00a0was shocked by this observation: “a concern on the scarcity of initial\u00a0proclamation taking place everyday”.\u00a0All the efforts made until today\u00a0are\u00a0having\u00a0trouble generating newness\u00a0of life that will arouse curiosity on how\u00a0the baptized live<\/b>. How can the fracture between faith and life be overcome, a\u00a0fracture that makes it harder for faith to be found in a reasonable way, and\u00a0therefore, attractive? Without rediscovering and welcoming the precious gift\u00a0that is faith,\u00a0new evangelization risks being diminished to being a question\u00a0for experts.<\/p>\n

To incite this interest, we have an ally in the heart of man from\u00a0any culture and condition. We know that the heart of man is made for the\u00a0infinite. Awaiting its achievement remains in him. Because there is “no\u00a0false infinite that can satisfy him”. “What, then, will anyone gain\u00a0by winning the whole world and forfeiting his life?” (Mt 16:26).<\/p>\n

A\u00a0doctrine, a group of rules, an organization cannot answer this expectation,\u00a0only an event. As Fr. Giussani said during the 1987 Synod, “What is lacking\u00a0is not as much the verbal or cultural repetition of the proclamation. Today’s\u00a0man perhaps\u00a0awaits\u00a0subconsciously\u00a0the experience of the encounter with persons\u00a0for whom the fact of Christ is such a present\u00a0reality that it has changed their\u00a0lives<\/b>“. A place where everyone is invited to verify what the first\u00a0verified on the banks of the river Jordan: “Come and see”, because\u00a0“a faith that cannot be evidentiated and found in present experience,\u00a0confirmed by it, that is not useful in answering its needs, will not be a faith\u00a0capable of resisting in a world where everything, absolutely everything, says\u00a0the opposite”.<\/p>\n
