Quite singular when you think that neither the Jews nor the Muslims would admit in terms of intimacy between the Creator and creature, Father and Son, God and me. So, why is Christ called the <i>&#8216;true vine<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&#8216; and why are we his <i>&#8216;branches&#8217;<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">?<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">&nbsp; The short answer<\/span>&nbsp;is because it is our Christian belief, our Christology, that God is waiting for humanity to bear fruit, sin notwithstanding.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The Incarnation, and the proclamation of &nbsp;the Good News tells us of the wine of love, obedience and prayer with the goal of uniting God and humanity in a truer way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"tab-stops:28.3pt 56.65pt 85.0pt 113.35pt 141.7pt 170.05pt 198.4pt 226.75pt 255.1pt 283.45pt 311.8pt 340.15pt 354.35pt 389.75pt 425.2pt 460.65pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">That we are expected to &#8220;<i>bear much fruit<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&#8221;<br \/>\nand to rely on the Lord for all things there is a hope that we<br \/>\nremain in Him and &nbsp;that His &#8220;<i>words remain in you<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&#8220;. There is a dependence on God in a radical manner that is unheard of in most of relationships.&nbsp;<span style=\"mso-spacerun:\nyes\">To remain, to abide, to stay close to Jesus is the key of the spiritual life. Not to remain <i>in Christ<\/i> is reject the offer of Grace. The question of what it means to remain in Christ is given by the second reading: keep the commandments, of both Testaments of sacred Scripture and the teaching of the Church.
