\"St<\/a>O Lord and Bridegroom of your Church,<\/p>\n

We praise you for this virgin wise<\/p>\n

Who, lighted lamp in hand, went forth<\/p>\n

To preach her Groom and win his prize!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

From early youth she heard your voice<\/p>\n

And longed to work in Asian lands;<\/p>\n

But “in the west you’ll find your east,”<\/p>\n

The pope said, firm in his commands.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

So from her home, Francesca came<\/p>\n

That she might care for those who left<\/p>\n

Italian homes to seek for work,<\/p>\n

But in the New World were bereft.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

She founded schools and hospitals<\/p>\n

And orphan homes, and traveled wide;<\/p>\n

Despite ill health and stature small<\/p>\n

Her works became our Church’s pride.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

She labored long with sisters brave,<\/p>\n

And soon her congregation spread<\/p>\n

From North to Southern hemisphere,<\/p>\n

Although she sailed the seas with dread.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In labors long and hard, she worked<\/p>\n

That Christ her Lord might be well served<\/p>\n

In poor and sick and ignorant,<\/p>\n

That they might feel God’s love deserved.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

O Trinity of love most great,<\/p>\n

O Father, Son, and Spirit blest,<\/p>\n

With Frances and with all your saints<\/p>\n

Bring us, at length, to heaven’s rest.<\/p>\n
