\nwhen Iraqi security forces raided the church in order to free the faithful
\nbeing held inside.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nBenedict said, “Last night, in a very serious attack on the Syrian Catholic
\nCathedral in Baghdad, dozens of people were killed and wounded, including two
\npriests and a group of faithful gathered for Sunday Mass.”<\/span><\/p>\n
\npray for the victims of this senseless violence, all the more ferocious as it
\naffected defenseless civilians, this closeness to the martyred Christian
\ncommunity, targeted yet again by terrorists, and encouraged all pastors and
\nfaithful to be strong and firm in hope.”<\/span><\/p>\n
