O Light from Light, all splendor’s Source,\u00a0Whose clear beams shine with heaven’s joy,\u00a0We give you thanks for Mother Clare,\u00a0And ev’ry form of praise employ.<\/p>\n

Enticed by Francis’ preaching sweet,\u00a0Christ Crucified became her spouse;\u00a0She gathered sisters to her side\u00a0Where poverty would grace their house.<\/p>\n

She left behind all earthly gain
\nThat riches true might be her all;
\nIn poverty, obedience,
\nAnd chastity she heard Christ’s call.<\/p>\n

As mother to her flock, she lived
\nAnd modeled Christ to ev’ryone;
\nIn loving service spent herself
\nIn toil from dawn to setting sun.<\/p>\n

As she has shown us, Lord, your way,
\nSo give us grace like her to be,
\nThat we may turn from self to you
\nAnd in your way be truly free.<\/p>\n

Most high, omnipotent, good God,
\nO Father, Son, and Spirit blest,
\nWith Mother Clare and all your saints
\nBring us, your Church, to endless rest.<\/p>\n
