Nowicki, O.S.B., 65, the eleventh Archabbot<br \/>\nof <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saintvincentarchabbey.org\/\">Saint Vincent Archabbey<\/a>, was re-elected as the major superior of the<br \/>\nBenedictine community in Latrobe Pennsylvania on Tuesday, May 11.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In his role as<br \/>\nthe Archabbot of Saint Vincent Archabbey, Archabbot Douglas serves as the spiritual<br \/>\nleader of the first monastery established in the United States and one of the<br \/>\nlargest monasteries in the world with nearly 175 monks. As archabbot, he is the chancellor of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stvincent.edu\/\">Saint Vincent<br \/>\nCollege<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saintvincentseminary.edu\/\">Saint Vincent Seminary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Benedictines operate the Benedictine<br \/>\nMilitary School in Savannah, Georgia, and the Penn State Campus Ministry<br \/>\nProgram at State College, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In addition to his responsibilities in<br \/>\nthis country, the Archabbot is also the spiritual leader of monasteries in<br \/>\nBrazil and Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">May God grant Archabbot Douglas abundant blessings today and in the years ahead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Saint Benedict, pray for us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Saint Vincent de Paul, pray for us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">NB: Beg the Holy Spirit for graces upon the Benedictine abbeys of Saint Procopius and Marmion (both in the greater Chicago area) who will be electing new abbots this summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p><!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Archabbot Douglas R.
