In some places the theme of mercy is recognized drawing us into the Lord&#8217;s bountiful mercy: John Paul II recommended the title of Divine Mercy Sunday for this day, too. The most accurate title, however, for today, is &#8220;Quasimodo<br \/>\nSunday&#8221; taken from the first two words of the entrance Antiphon at Mass<br \/>\nthat speak especially to those baptized at <font class=\"Apple-style-span\" color=\"#000000\">the Easter Vigil:&nbsp;<\/font><i>Quasi modo geniti infantes, rationabile, sine dolo lac concupiscite ut in eo<br \/>\ncrescatis in salutem si gustastis quoniam dulcis Dominus<\/i>. (As newborn babes,<br \/>\nalleluia, desire the rational milk without guile, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.<br \/>\nRejoice to God our helper. Sing aloud to the God of Jacob (1 Peter 2:2).)<\/span><\/p>\n<div><font class=\"Apple-style-span\" face=\"Garamond, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif\" size=\"4\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><br \/><\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/communio.stblogs.org\/Sts%20Andrew%20%26%20Thomas%20GLBernini.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Sts Andrew &amp; Thomas GLBernini.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/communio.stblogs.org\/assets_c\/2010\/04\/Sts Andrew &amp; Thomas GLBernini-thumb-250x195-6147.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"195\" class=\"mt-image-left\" style=\"float: left; margin: 0 20px 20px 0;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Garamond;\nmso-ansi-language:EN-US\">This<br \/>\nsecond Sunday following Easter is the day on which the newly baptized<br \/>\nofficially put away their white robes, it is therefore known liturgically as<br \/>\n&#8220;Dominica in albis depositis&#8221; or the &#8220;Sunday of putting away the<br \/>\nalbs.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><font class=\"Apple-style-span\" face=\"Garamond, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif\" size=\"4\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><br \/><\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Garamond;\nmso-ansi-language:EN-US\">Today we also hear John 20: 19-31 proclaimed which focuses our<br \/>\nattention on the doubts of Saint Thomas at hearing the news of the risen<br \/>\nChrist.<\/span><\/p>\n<div><font class=\"Apple-style-span\" face=\"Garamond, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif\" size=\"4\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px; \"><br \/><\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Garamond;\nmso-ansi-language:EN-US\">In his book, <i>The Liturgical Year<\/i>, Dom Prosper Gueranger writes, &#8220;Our<br \/>\nrisen Jesus gave an additional proof that he wished the Sunday to be,<br \/>\nhenceforth, the privileged day. He reserved the second visit he intended to pay<br \/>\nto all his disciples for this the eighth day since his Resurrection. During the<br \/>\nprevious days, he has left Thomas a prey to doubt; but to-day he shows himself<br \/>\nto this Apostle, as well as to the others, and obliges him, by irresistible<br \/>\nevidence, to lay aside his incredulity. Thus does our Saviour again honour the<br \/>\nSunday.
