I tell you, anything you did for one of my brothers, you\u00a0did it for me.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Garamond; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">Let us pray with the Church:<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Garamond; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\"><i>Lord God, You teach us that the commandments of heaven are\u00a0summarized in love of You and of our neighbor. By following the example of\u00a0blessed Angela, the virgin, in practicing the works of charity may we be\u00a0counted among the blessed in Your kingdom.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Garamond, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif; font-size: large;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Garamond; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">Blessed Angela&#8217;s life (1881-1922) is\u00a0striking because of its simplicity and the felt sense of love. Some parts of her family\u00a0history, though, was tough: she was the youngest child of nine brothers, often\u00a0undernourished, weak and sick, she was unruly and capricious. Angela received\u00a0some schooling and learned to read, but spelling was not a skill she could take\u00a0pride in. Angela learned to be a pious woman and in time she was eager to read\u00a0good book. By her late teenage years, she entered to the Association of Saint\u00a0Zita (caring for sick people.)<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Garamond, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif; font-size: large;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Garamond; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">Little by little she understood that her\u00a0vocation was to suffer with Christ, and accept it resolutely, but conscious of\u00a0its weakness. She spent many hours in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and read books\u00a0of spiritual depth, taking copious notes. By order of her confessor, Angela began to make notes of the mystical experiences.\u00a0When one of the people she was looking after died, interpersonal difficulties with the deceased&#8217;s family surfaced for Angela.\u00a0She wrote that it feels suddenly that Jesus says to her: &#8220;Daughter, why do\u00a0you worry? I have not left to you.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Garamond, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif; font-size: large;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Garamond; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">In order to follow more closely\u00a0Christ crucified and poor, she joined the Secular Franciscan Order on March 15, 1912,\u00a0and she professed vows on 6 August 1913. As a lay woman consecrated to Christ living under the Rule of Saint Francis for the Laity, Angela is an example to all of us that obstacles can be overcome with grace.<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Garamond, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif; font-size: large;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Garamond; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">At her 1991 beatification in\u00a0Krak\u00f3w, Pope John Paul II said: &#8220;It is in this city that she worked, that\u00a0she suffered and that her holiness came to maturity.
