And I felt\u00a0a great desire to see him, to know Him and to pay Him homage&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After several\u00a0months in the catechumenate, Bakhita received the sacraments of Christian\u00a0initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) and was given the new\u00a0name, Josephine on January 9, 1890. With expressive eyes that sparkled,\u00a0revealing intense emotions, she radiated joy. Josephine was often observed\u00a0kissing the baptismal font and saying: &#8220;Here, I became a daughter of God!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Arabic word &#8220;Bakhita&#8221; means <i>fortunate one<\/i>. Indeed, Saint Josephine was fortunate. The Vatican biography written at the time of her canonization can be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/news_services\/liturgy\/saints\/ns_lit_doc_20001001_giuseppina-bakhita_en.html\"><b>found here<\/b><\/a>.
