If it please you, Lord God, bless + and\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">consecrate + this vessel of wine (or any other beverage) by the power of your\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">right hand; and grant that, through the merits of Saint John, apostle and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">evangelist, all your faithful who drink of it may find it a help and a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">protection. As the blessed John drank the poisoned potion without any ill\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">effects, so may all who today drink the blessed wine in his honor be delivered\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">from poisoning and similar harmful things. And as they offer themselves body\u00a0<\/span>and soul to you, may they obtain pardon of all their sins.\u00a0We ask this through Christ our Lord<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">All: Amen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Lord, bless + this creature drink, so that it may be a\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">health-giving medicine to all who use it; and grant by your grace that all who\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">taste of it may enjoy bodily and spiritual health in calling on your holy name. We ask this through Christ our Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">All: Amen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">May the blessing of almighty God, Father,\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Son, + and Holy Spirit, come on this wine (or any other beverage) and remain\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">always.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">All: Amen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><i>At the end of the principal Mass on the feast of Saint John,\u00a0<\/i><i>Apostle and Evangelist, (after the last Gospel if during the praying the Missal of Blessed John XXIII), the priest, retaining all\u00a0<\/i><i>vestments except the maniple, blesses wine brought by the people. This is done\u00a0<\/i><i>in memory and in honor of Saint John, who drank without any ill effects the\u00a0<\/i><i>poisoned wine offered to him by his enemies.\u00a0The wine is sprinkled with holy water. If the blessing is given\u00a0<\/i><i>privately outside of Mass, the priest is vested in surplice and stole and\u00a0<\/i><i>performs the ceremony as given above.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Priest: Our help is in the name of the Lord.
