Is it possible to conceive of the mendicant orders without the witness of Saint Clare? Saint Clare of Assisi is a pivotal figure in Catholic<br \/>\nspirituality and religious life that I think she&#8217;s been studied and followed by<br \/>\nvery few. James Thompson, a composer of sacred music, wrote the following piece<br \/>\non Clare which deserves our attention. I have posted Thompson&#8217;s texts here before<br \/>\nwith the thought that they provide food for thought <span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span> prayer. margin: 0 0 20px 20px;\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Garamond;\nmso-ansi-language:EN-US\">Christ Crucified became her Spouse;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Garamond;\nmso-ansi-language:EN-US\">She gathered<br \/>\nsisters to her side<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Garamond;\nmso-ansi-language:EN-US\">Where Poverty would grace the house.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><font class=\"Apple-style-span\" face=\"Garamond, helvetica, hirakakupro-w3, osaka, 'ms pgothic', sans-serif\" size=\"4\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px;
