Yesterday, with exultation,
\nJoin’d the world in celebration
\nOf her promised Saviour’s birth;
\nYesterday the Angel-nation
\nPour’d the strains of jubilation
\nO’er the Monarch born on earth;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But today o’er death victorious,
\nBy his faith and actions glorious,
\nby his miracles renown’d,
\nSee the Deacon triumph gaining,
\n‘Midst the faithless faith sustaining,
\nFirst of holy Martyrs found.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Onward, champion, falter never,
\nSure of sure reward for ever,
\nHoly Stephen, persevere;
\nPerjured witnesses confounding,

As the dying martyr kneeleth,
