O God,<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Who did endow blessed Vincent<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

with apostolic power for preaching the Gospel to the poor<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

and for promoting the honor of the priesthood;<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

we beseech Thee, grant that we who venerate his holy life<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

may be inspired by the example of his virtues.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Three thoughts from Saint Vincent:<\/o:p><\/em><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Give me persons of prayer and they will be capable of anything. <\/p>\n

What! To be a Christian and see a Brother afflicted without weeping with him, without being sick with him, would be to be without charity, to be a mere picture of a Christian, to be without humanity, to be worse than brute beasts!<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Church teaches us that mercy belongs to God. Let us implore Him to bestow on us the spirit of mercy and compassion, so that we are filled with it and may never lose it.
